Bullseye Awards
By: Janis Adams
You may be counting down the days until Christmas when you open your gifts under the tree, but the ESCAPEROOMers are counting down the days to the Bullseye Awards Ceremony. Held annually, this ceremony heralds the best of the best in a number of categories, with the players’ choice award show will be held on December 30, 2021.
How the Bullseye Awards Work
The Bullseye Awards are the biggest and greatest nod to all things gaming. And, as such, these awards call out the best Games and Gamemasters of the year. Attendees and players can cast their votes daily, based off of a select voting system. An estimated total of roughly 10,500 game nominations, for “Game of the Year,” have been divided into four subcategories. These aforementioned categories are: “In–person Escape Rooms,” “Live–Hosted Games,” “Table–Top Games,” and “Online Games.” The fact that the game nominations come from all across the world makes the stakes all the more exciting.
How the Awards Started
ESCAPEROOMers provides the premiere international site to rate and rank gaming experiences. Brandon Chow and Cici Cao, a husband and wife duo, founded the site in 2018 as a way to showcase their niche love for gaming. The dynamic duo travels the continents and ferret out the new and the outstanding. In addition to their personal views, they offer a platform for game-creators to showcase their productions.
The couple boasts having played over 500 escape rooms (in-person and online) in more than 30 countries. Willing to travel, search out and translate the game experiences for those querying information on game quality and aesthetics, they share their personal views and take-aways.
With thousands of escape rooms in the world, there are the great, the good, the so-so and, let’s be real, the not worth showing up for. Cao and Chow amassed a team of 15 gaming enthusiasts who rank and write about their experiences, offering unique insights, facts and directives.
The Take Away
ESCAPEROOMers provides an easy way for you to make your voice heard. So, make your votes count and vote for Trap Door Escape Room’s immersive experiences!
This year, Trap Door Escape Room had seven different games in the Top 20 in the Semi-Finals of the BullsEye Awards – this was out of 512 rooms from all over the world that were nominated in the first round! Despite the odds, these nominations for Trap Door come as no surprise! We are pleased to announce that two of our experiences won! Everest is a Bronze Winner for the Players’ Choice Award for Best In-Person Escape Room, and F5 won Best Immersive Experience in the world!
In short, Trap Door is tailored for the players’ experiences. With larger than life spaces, immersive stories, and plenty of puzzles – it’s no wonder why people can’t get enough of these game rooms, which are the largest on the eastern seaboard.
The famed, Mt. Everest in Red Bank, New Jersey, is a fan favorite, as it challenges players to search for a lost research team who had gone missing while looking for the mysterious yeti. This mega experience boasts two floors – and is over 1,000 sq. feet!

History
The idea came to Tone Purzycki back in 2011 after he wrote a screenplay that developed into a live-streaming game. The game revolved around an actor trapped in a situation and the audience had to solve puzzles to figure out where he was trapped. The “Find Me Event” had more than 1,000 people playing over the course of several hours. After the success of several other streaming events, the idea of an escape room was born.

Each location has different rooms from which to choose. Our Morristown location is home to Day of the Dead, Witch Hunt, and The Greatest Freakshow.
