Three Teens Fear the Bogeyman Review

Opening Night, brothers JD, 17, and Jesse, 14, along with their friend Owen, 16, came to face The Bogeyman. They had full confidence that they would have no problem solving the puzzles and defeating The Bogeyman. After learning the rules and their mission, they entered the first bedroom filled with excitement. But while in there, things started picking up.

And So It Begins...

“The first room really had us thinking. We spent the most time in there because we were either overthinking things or just missing important details. We each had different thoughts about what it was that we were looking for,” said JD. “The hints made us think a little harder and in totally different directions, but once we got through the first room, we started to think differently.”

JD and Jesse have played another Trap Door experience, Cure Z, in the past and said this game was just as much fun. The experience was slightly different, though, because they played in larger group for Cure Z

“When we had around 10 people in Cure Z, there were a lot of ideas being thrown out there; so, you would second guess yourself more. But you had the chance to really see other people’s problem solving thoughts,” said Jesse. “With just the three of us, we were able to really work together and not fight over whose idea is more right, but maybe with more people we would have wasted less time thinking in the wrong direction. Who knows? No matter how many people in the group, it’s always a fun time.”

Try Not To Get Too Scared...

Trap Door Escape Room features live actors for a fully immersive experience.

Since you never know when or where the Bogeyman will pop into the game, you might be wondering if he succeeded in making these boys jump.

“He got me a few times. Once, JD and Jesse left me behind in one of the rooms after solving that room’s puzzle, and there he was,” said Owen. “It’s a different feeling knowing that you are literally being hunted by this guy while thinking about what the clues are trying to tell you. I’ve done escape rooms before but never one where a live person was ready to appear and scare you. This was a lot of fun.” All in all, they had a positive Fear the Bogeyman review.

Do You Have the Guts?

Fear the Bogeyman is the newest game in Trap Door Escape Room’s Bartonsville location. This game originated in Red Bank, where it was wildly successful for years. The Bogeyman needed a new home though, so the game was revamped and transported out to our PA location, as owner Tone Purzycki knew the escape room fanatics of the Pocono area would love this unique experience.

Fear the Bogeyman is a full-fear escape room, which means that it isn’t for the faint of heart or younger children. The Bogeyman enjoys scaring players with scary sounds, turning lights on and off, and even making the occasional appearance. No one is safe in this horror escape room.  If you enjoy the rush of adrenaline from not knowing what’s lurking around the corner while needing to think on your toes, this is definitely a game you need to experience. The teens would tell you not to miss out on this adventure!

Before You Play

So besides a favorable Fear the Bogeyman review, what else do you need to know about the game before entering? You and your team enter the Wagner home as paranormal investigators trying to crack the case of recent child abductions. However, the supernatural starts to take over as you learn The Bogeyman has stolen the kids away to his secret realm. You’ll have to follow after them to save them, all while being hunted by The Bogeyman. Puzzles along the way help point you in the right direction and uncover what you need to rescue the children. This adrenaline filled experience is great fun if you’re up for it.

Fear the Bogeyman is a 60 minute game, and will have you traveling through several bedrooms in an effort to find the missing children. Don’t worry about getting too stuck though- everyone gets unlimited hints to get them thinking in the right direction. The game is only available at night, as The Bogeyman is not fond of sunlight. History

The idea came to Tone Purzycki back in 2011 after he wrote a screenplay that developed into a live-streaming game. The game revolved around an actor trapped in a situation and the audience had to solve puzzles to figure out where he was trapped. The “Find Me Event” had more than 1,000 people playing over the course of several hours. After the success of several other streaming events, the idea of an escape room was born.
